I was going to wait until New Year's Day to start blogging. Fresh... clean slate... re-energized.
It reminded me of a manager I had once who received a leather-bound journal for a birthday and had kept it for 6 years, waiting for the "right thing" to write in it. He did not want to put a drop of ink into that gorgeous journal until he knew what he was going to write. I doubt he ever put it to use.
I spent this evening taking down ornaments and packing them up, starting to gather the decorations from around the house. I am thinking about how drab the house will look once all of the sparkly, shiny ornaments, crafts, and lights around.
I have heard several people talking about how 2009 was a TERRIBLE year. I would not say terrible. Personally, I can think of the challenges - muscling through a tight budget, a tonsillectomy, a broken garage door, brake work on the car. But it has been great as far as the health of our family, a first trip to the beach for three of the kids (priceless!), welcoming home a family member from his third tour of duty in Afganistan, and lessons learned about how to prepare for a deal with financial squeezes. This is all good.
So I am not waiting until January 1st to start fresh, I am going to get this place cleaned up, start my blog, and look for the good in the blank canvas of the undecorated house.
